Clark Atlanta University



If you are looking to go to school in Atlanta,this is one of the best schools to attend. Clark Atlanta University is a private coeducational institution that offers undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees. It was formed in 1988 when Altanta University, which offered only graduate degrees and Clark College, which offered a four-year undergraduate institution combined. Their purpose is to prepare a diverse community of learners to excel in their chosen endeavors and to become responsible, productive, and innovative citizen leaders, locally and globally.

Located just west of downtown Atlanta, Clark Atlanta is founded on the principles of the United Methodist Church. CAU offers over 38 major areas of study including Education, Business Administration and Communication Arts.

If you plan to attend CAU, you do have to fill out an admissions application.Completing the application form online will activate your admissions file. CAU does not accept fee waiver for the online application. (application fee non-refundable $35) Here is what is a list of what is needed when turning in the application:
  • Recommendation for your counselor and a teacher
  • Official high school transcript(s) from each school attended. Transcripts must be sent directly to the Office of Admissions from the school 
  • Official SAT or ACT score repors 
  • Essay ( 500 words, From the following topics: Who has the greatest influence on your life and why? or How do you believe Clark Atlanta University will prepare you for future leadership?)
  • Non refundable $35 application fee( or fee waiver request form completed by high school counselor. Fee waivers are accepted until March 1i
Some of the Admissions requirements include a 2.5 GPA( on a 4.0 scale), 900 SAT (Critical Reading and Math only) or 19 ACT. Educational requirements include 4 units in English, 3 units in Math, 2 Foreign Language units, 3 Social Science units and 3 Electives. 

CAU also offers financial aid to students which includes scholarships, grants, discounts and loans. To qualify for any CAUs aid, students MUST fill out the FAFSA form. Some of the scholarships and loans that are offered are Sallie Mae, Stanford Loan, Plus Loan, Presidential Freedom Scholarship, Princeton Review Scholarship and Aid and the Siblings Discount.

Spring application priority deadline is October 1
FAFSA deadline May 1
